These instructions will help you install drivers for Star receipt printers and configure them to work properly with your DaySmart software.

​Install Printer Drivers
Drivers are required for your printer to communicate with Windows and your software.

  1. Unplug the printer from the computer if it is not already.

  2. Click HERE to download the Star drivers directly from Star's website.

  3. Once the file has finished downloading, navigate to your downloads folder, right click on the file and extract the files.

  4. When the files have finished extracting, select the Autorun option within the new folder that was created.

  5. A window should then pop up with the option for Installation, select this option.

  6. Accept the license agreement terms on the next screen.

  7. Click Next on the InstallShield Wizard welcome screen.

  8. Click Next.

  9. Select the radio bubble for Typical and click Next.

  10. Select Install. The installer will begin installing the driver files. This may take several minutes.

  11. Click Finish once the installation is complete.

Connect Your Printer
Now that the requisite drivers are installed, the device should be ready to communicate with both Windows and your software.

  1. Plug the device into any open USB port on your computer.

  2. Windows will recognize and configure your device. This may take a minute.

  3. Go to the Windows Control Panel and select Devices and Printers.

  4. Right click on the icon for your Star printer and select Printing preferences.

  5. Click Advanced.

  6. From the Advanced Options Window, change the paper size to "72mm x Receipt" then click OK and then OK again.

  7. You should be back at the Printers and Devices screen again. Right click on your Star printer and select Printer properties.

  8. Under the Device Settings tab, make sure the paper size is set to "72mm x Receipt" again and hit apply.

  9. In your DaySmart software, grab the Tools pull-down menu and select Options.

  10. Select the Hardware Setup tab and click the Configure Receipt Printer button.

  11. In the Settings section, choose the Use standard full-size Windows printer or USB receipt printer radio bubble.

  12. Click Select on the right and choose your Star receipt printer. Click OK.

  13. Click the Print Test Receipt button and follow the prompts to print a test receipt.

  14. When the receipt prints successfully, click OK in the Receipt Printer Setup window and return to using your software. The receipt printer is now properly configured to work with your software.
